![]() ![]() She smiled, reassured that whatever this thing with the sword was, he wasn't trying to hit on her. “N-no! I didn’t - I wouldn’t do that! It’s right here!” He gestured to the bag. Link’s eyes widened and his cheeks and ears turned red before he stuttered out. “Please don’t tell me it’s in your pants, because if so I’m gonna stop you right now and say it isn’t happening.” “Where’s this sword you mentioned?” She asked before putting her hands on her hips seriously. This was a contrast to the usual chill, confident prettyboy she was used to seeing in her class. His shoulder-length blond hair was damp, like he had recently showered, and he looked nervous. “Hey,” he responded in his low voice, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. “Hey,” she greeted as she walked towards him. What sort of sword could he have ‘found’ that he wanted to show her? That was a relief and also sparked her curiosity. It seemed like there probably was actually a sword at least. Link was already standing awkwardly by one of the couches when she got off the elevator, a sports bag over his shoulder with something wrapped in what appeared to be a towel jutting out of it. Also, it had the blessing of an elevator. She was sometimes jealous of the students who lived in the dorms in the old castle towers, because they had such an epic and classic look, but she had seen enough mice in those old castle halls to be glad of her single in the newer highrise dorms on the water. She slipped on her shoes and an oversized University of Hyrule sweatshirt and grabbed her bag as she headed down to the lobby of her dorm. She sat up, taking her earbuds out and quickly redoing her casual bun to make it so it wasn’t a total mess. Out of spite and to discourage him if he was hitting on her, she refused to put much effort in. Urg, she hated when people didn’t give a reasonable amount of time before she was supposed to be presentable for them. She was about to text something to try to make it clear she wasn’t flirting when he responded, thankfully with no image. She hoped her response didn’t come off as flirty or encouraging. He was pretty popular with girls, but maybe he just skated by on good looks and terrible flirting techniques. Link didn’t seem like that sort of guy, and it would be a pretty strange way to initiate something like that but sometimes guys are weird. Maybe he was going to send her a dickpic or something with some gross ‘sword’ caption. Right after pressing send she suddenly realized that this may have been some sort of come-on. Sure? I am always down to see cool swords. It wasn’t like she wasn’t going to be able to focus on this reading anyways. He did his part in the project admirably without incident and she always smiled and nodded at him when they crossed paths on campus or before class, but they weren’t friends. She was pretty sure he played soccer or something? Some sort of athlete. They had a couple of mutual friends and he seemed nice enough, a environmental science major who rarely talked and when he did it was mostly about hiking and food. Link? From her history class? Why was he texting her? They had worked on a group project several weeks back, which is why he had her number, but she didn’t really know him very well. She blinked and cocked her head as she looked at the message. Link (hist130): Hey, I found a sword? Can I come over? Straightening up and grabbing her phone, she was surprised to see that it wasn’t from her father. But she knew he would just call if she didn’t text back promptly enough. She was not in the mood to talk to her dad about her career plans right then. Her phone buzzed and lit up with an incoming text. It was a general requirement! It shouldn’t be more work than her major classes! She had been studying all weekend and was not looking forward to class the next day. Her ancient Hyrulean history class was murder and the professor was merciless with the number of readings he assigned each week. Junior year was shaping up to be just great. ![]() It was only halfway through the semester and she was already exhausted all the time. She had been reading the same paragraph over again for the past ten minutes and she wasn't absorbing any information anymore. Zelda signed and leaned back in her chair, rubbing her eyes.
